Ott re-appointed as NAIOP Distinguished Fellow

Dr. Steven Ott, the John Crosland Sr. Distinguished Professor of Real Estate in the Belk College of Business and director of the Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte, has been reappointed as a Distinguished Fellow of NAIOP, the national commercial real estate development association.

NAIOP Distinguished Fellows provide a bridge between the practicing commercial real estate community and the academic community. Fellows contribute articles to NAIOP’s magazine and website, give presentations to the association’s board of directors, and participate on high-level national committees.

“As a NAIOP Distinguished Fellow, Dr. Ott is key to enabling both our members and the Fellows to stay informed of the traneds and information that affect our industry,” said Sheila Vertino, vice president for information and research at NAIOP.

In addition to his role with NAIOP, Dr. Ott also is an Academic Fellow of the Urban Land Institute (ULI),a nonprofit education and research institute which focuses on issues related to real estate, land use and public policy. He is leading a two-day workshop in CharlotteMay 18 and 19 for ULI members on “Valuation and Aquisition Strategies in a Distressed Market,” focusing on topics including real estate equity investment, valuation and investment strategies for distressed assets, and the current state of real estate investment trusts (REITs).

Ott also will teach a course in real estate finance and project analysis at ULI’s annual Real Estate School, June 5 – 8 in Los Angeles.

At UNC Charlotte, Dr. Ott teaches graduate courses in real estate finance and development, coordinates the M.B.A. concentration in real estate and leads the Belk College’s research efforts in real estate and related issues. He joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in 1999.
