Ott to lead ULI professional development workshop in Charlotte

Dr. Steven Ott, the John Crosland Jr. professor of real estate in the Belk College of Business and director of the Center for Real Estate, is leading a professional development workshop for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) May 11 and 12 in Charlotte.

The program, “Equity Capital for Commercial Real Estate: Understanding and Navigating the Private and Public Options,” is designed to help developer owners/operators of commercial real estate map a viable strategy for raising equity for their firm or their firm’s projects.

Ott developed this program with several members of the Center for Real Estate’s advisory board, including Ron Curtis (Bank of America), Frank Spencer (Cogdell Spencer, Inc.) and Jefferson Brown (King & Spalding LLP).

“The idea for this workshop originatedat the advisory board’slastmeeting, and interest grew through subsequent discussions with board members,” Ott said.”We are looking forward to having the opportunity to put both the City of Charlotte, and the real estate program at UNC Charlotte,on display to real estate professionals from across the country.”

The workshop will be held at UNC Charlotte Uptown, with a pre-program networking dinner held at the Bank of America Corporate Center. Additional information and registration is available at uli.

Considered a top researcher in real estate finance and development, Ott has served as an Academic Fellow for ULI, providing intellectual leadership for the nonprofit education and research institute which focuses on issues related to real estate, land use and public policy.
