Fustel Mwamba is an applied economist, public policy scholar and academic instructor of econometrics and macroeconomics. His teaching and research focus on applied economics, economic policy, environmental economics and global development. Mwamba’s academic work is grounded in quantitative and analytical methods, with expertise in static and dynamic panel data analysis, categorical outcome modeling, environmental economic modeling and climate‑development research.

Since 2023, Mwamba has taught large sections of Principles of Macroeconomics in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte and currently teaches econometrics. He has also served as a teaching assistant for graduate‑level courses, including advanced microeconomics, advanced macroeconomics and advanced micro‑econometrics. His teaching philosophy emphasizes data‑driven instruction, problem‑based learning, applied computer exercises, thoughtful assessment design, inclusive student support and collaborative group activities. His research interests include innovation and technological change, environmental sustainability, energy economics, fiscal policy and the relationship between economic development and environmental outcomes.

Mwamba is also a U.S. Air Force combat veteran who completed two overseas deployments. In addition to his academic and military experience, he has demonstrated strong leadership through professional service and campus engagement. He is a former president of the Graduate Public Policy Association and is a member of several honor and leadership societies, including Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Outside of his academic and professional work, his interests include photography, videography and travel.
