Howard Godfrey nominated for Bank of America Teaching Award
Dr. Howard Godfrey, professor of accounting, has been nominated for the Bank of America Teaching Award, UNC Charlotte’s most prestigious recognition of teaching excellence.
“Howard is a very worthy nominee,” said Belk College Dean Steve Ott. “Howard’s commitment to students is extraordinary, and he is often cited by many of our alumni as one of their most influential professors.”
Dr. Godfrey joined the Belk College in 1975. His teaching and research interests are in the area of taxation. Dr. Godfrey is a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina and a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Taxation Association, the the American Institute of CPAs. An active member of Financial Executives International (FEI), Dr. Godfrey served as president of the Charlotte chapter.
Dr. Godfrey is author of Handbook on Tax Exempt Organizations. His accounting and tax articles have been published in The Tax Adviser, Government Finance Review, The Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly, The National Public Accountant and other professional journals. In 1994, Dr. Godfrey received the Accounting Educator Award from the N.C. Association of CPAs.
