“Diverse 100” list gives Belk College programs high marks for graduating minority students

Belk College of Business continues to excel in serving minority students, with several programs ranking among the best in the nation for awarding degrees to minority students, according to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education’s Diverse 100.

Among the honors, two undergraduate areas of study rank in the top 10 for African American graduates, with finance at No. 5 and marketing at No. 10. Charlotte’s top 10-ranked graduate programs included two designations for the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), at No. 2 for Overall Minorities and No. 4 for African Americans.

In other rankings in the top 100, the undergraduate finance area of study ranked No. 23, and marketing ranked No. 50 in the nation for awarding bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic/Latinx students.

Belk College also achieved a No. 38 ranking for master’s degrees awarded to African American Students in the area of Business, Management and Marketing.

The rankings derive from the magazine’s analysis of U.S. Department of Education reports submitted by institutions for the 2021-22 academic year. The report is the only national assessment of the ability of U.S. colleges and universities to award degrees to African American, Hispanic, Asian American and Native American students. The magazine released its rankings in November. Among all disciplines that were assessed, UNC Charlotte continues to rise.
