Alex Castelli worked for nearly 19 years at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), taking on increasing responsibilities across London, New York and Charlotte. Most recently, he was responsible for commercial leadership and strategic engagement for the distribution of FTSE Russell indices through the firm’s largest and most strategically important distribution partners, including Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar and SIX Financial. His work also included collaboration with major exchanges such as CBOE, Euronext, Deutsche Börse, ICE/NYSE and SIX Swiss Exchange, as well as other index providers including MSCI and S&P Global.

Castelli teaches Financial Management (FINN 3120), International Financial Management (FINN 3223), Financial Theory and Practice (FINN 3226) and Fixed Income Securities and Credit Risk (FINN 6211) to undergraduate and graduate students in the Belk College of Business. He brings extensive industry experience into the classroom, enriching assignments with real-world case scenarios and a broad perspective on the financial ecosystem to provide practical applications of concepts and theory. In 2004, he received the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence.

He is also an adjunct professor at Everglades University in Florida, where he teaches Accounting Principles I and II (ACG 2001 and ACG 2011) and Integrated Accounting (ACG 2450) to undergraduate and MBA students. Previously, he taught Management Accounting at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He has co-authored articles published in peer-reviewed journals in both Italian, including Bancaria, and English, including the Journal of Management and Governance.
