
Benjamin Russo is a macroeconomist specializing in long-run economic growth, tax policy, and national saving and government debt. He received his Bachelors degree in philosophy from SUNY Stony Brook, and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Iowa. He has served on staff for North Carolina’s State and Local Fiscal Modernization Study Commission, as well as the Institute for Emerging Issues’ working group on Financing North Carolina’s Future. Dr. Russo chaired the New Economy Subcommittee for the Governor’s Commission to Modernize State Finances, and has served Department of Finance Canada as a consultant on R&D tax incentives. Dr. Russo joined the Belk College faculty in 1984.
