Dr. Karla Liboreiro is an experienced educator and strategic human resources leader with more than 15 years of professional experience and over five years of university-level teaching. She currently serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Management at UNC Charlotte’s Belk College of Business, where she teaches MGMT 3280 Strategic Management, MGMT 3140 Management and Organizational Behavior, and related courses.

Before joining UNC Charlotte, Liboreiro worked at Amazon as a Human Resources Business Partner, providing strategic guidance, coaching, and HR solutions to operations and executive managers across California, Florida, and North Carolina. She also served as a Compensation Consultant within UNC Charlotte’s HR department, supporting campus-wide leadership through position management of SHRA and EHRA-NF roles, data analysis, classification review, process improvement, and HR auditing initiatives.

Her career spans multiple sectors—including mining, consulting, and higher education—where she has led strategic planning, leadership development, compensation design, organizational transformation, and employee engagement programs. Known for building HR infrastructure from the ground up, she guides global organizations through cultural and structural change with a focus on equity, inclusion, and people analytics.

Liboreiro holds a Ph.D. in Technological Innovation, Strategic Management, and Entrepreneurship from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in partnership with the University of California, Berkeley. She earned a Master of Science in Business Management from UFMG, an MBA in Human Resource Management from Fundação Dom Cabral, and a B.Sc. in Psychology from FUMEC University.

She has taught at institutions including UC Berkeley, UFMG, UNA, and Johnson & Wales University, offering courses in Human Resource Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Management. Her research and teaching interests include organizational culture, person–organization fit, strategic management, human resources management, psychological safety, leadership, teamwork, active learning methodologies, and the intersection of strategy and innovation. She is passionate about connecting theory to practice and empowering students through inclusive, project-based learning environments.
