Paul Gaggl joined the Belk College of Business after earning his Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis in 2012. His current research concentrates on the distributional effects of technology adoption, particularly concerning the heterogeneous effects on different types of workers and the distribution of income between labor and capital. This includes work on the connection between polarizing labor markets and jobless recoveries since 1990 as well as the effects of automation more broadly. His work has been published in outlets such as the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, the Review of Economic Dynamics, the World Bank Economic Review, or Macroeconomic Dynamics. He is a research associate of the CESifo Research Network. Some of his recent work has also been featured in various media outlets (see below).
