Robert J. Cummings is a former Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer at Falfurrias Capital Partners, a Charlotte-based private equity firm that acquires or invests in middle-market businesses. In this role, he provided management oversight and guidance to portfolio companies and led strategic technology initiatives across the firm’s investments.

Cummings is also the co-founder of DealCloud, a deal management software platform now used by more than 2,000 firms involved in M&A transactions. DealCloud raised more than $10 million in institutional venture funding before its acquisition by Intapp in 2018. Intapp later went public and now trades on the NASDAQ exchange.

His career spans software and private equity. He previously served as President and CEO of MobileHWY and held senior management roles at enterprise software companies including PeopleSoft, J.D. Edwards, Chordiant Software and Charlotte-based startup YOUcentric.

Cummings remains active in the early-stage venture community as both an investor and advisor. He is passionate about working with college students and serves as Executive in Residence and Board Chair at the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs at Virginia Tech.

As an adjunct professor, he co-instructs the MBA course Entrepreneurial Organizing at UNC Charlotte.
