"Marketing Analytics and Business Analytics double major, Adonis Abdullah, describes the Belk College of Business as “a place that gives you the opportunity to make the city of Charlotte your sandbox where you can cultivate your future into what you always envisioned.”

What majors are you pursuing and why?

Marketing Analytics & Business Analytics – I am pursuing this because I have a deep passion for interpreting data and coming to a meaningful conclusion from it. It is something I had been doing since I was a child, unbeknownst to me, and I feel that something I enjoy that much should be my career.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte?

I chose to attend UNC Charlotte and the Belk College of Business because I felt it offered opportunities that would be unimaginable at other universities. I knew these opportunities would allow me to maximize myself as a person.

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying?

When I am not working or studying I am busy learning new skills, exercising and playing basketball. Self-improvement is really important to me, so I devote all my free time to trying to become better.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

The best part of my academic experience so far is having the chance to interact with new people every day, as you never know the future value of the relationship between you two. Furthermore, being able to learn from both my professors and peers has been a joyous component of my academic experience.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

I would describe it as a place that gives you the opportunity to make the city of Charlotte your sandbox where you can cultivate your future into what you always envisioned.

What does professional development mean to you?

Professional development is a process. It is the constant pursuit of becoming the person and professional that you feel you were meant to be.

How has being a Crown Scholar and Belk Scholar helped you?

Being a dual scholar has helped me in two major ways. First, it has surrounded me with two unique communities of passionate people that not only want to change the world, but help others get there, too. Second, it has allowed me to develop relationships with influential people that I otherwise would not have gotten the chance to ever meet.

What high school did you attend?

Mooresville Senior High

In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte?

Being located in the center of Charlotte
Having a strong alumni network
Keeping a laid-back atmosphere

What is your favorite class that you have taken and why?

My favorite class that I have taken so far was Business Practicum I, because of the collaboration and interactivity that took place each and every class.
