Carroll Gray has joined the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte as an executive-in-residence for the 2007-08 academic year. Gray, who retired as president of the Charlotte Chamber in 2005, currently is president of Design Strategies, a consulting firm with offices in Charlotte and Greenville, S.C.

As Executive-in-Residence, Gray will collaborate with Interim Dean Steve Ott on a variety of special projects. His first assignment will be to direct the research efforts of M.B.A. students supporting “Southern Roots, Global Vision,” a partnership with the Levine Museum of the New South. Gray also will consult on issues related to program and curriculum development, community collaborations and student-recruitment efforts.

"We are delighted to have a leader of Carroll’s stature as an executive-in-residence,” Ott said. “We look forward to drawing on his strategic vision and extensive network to further strengthen the Belk College’s reputation in the community, and we are grateful for his service and commitment to UNC Charlotte.”

“The Belk College of Business is a great asset to Charlotte’s business community,” Gray said. “UNC Charlotte is our ‘state university’ and is integral to the growth and expansion of business in the mid-Carolina region.”
