Mexican students to participate in "graduation" ceremony

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

Twenty-eight students from Mexico will participate in a special “graduation” ceremony at UNC Charlotte on Friday, June 29 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Atkins Library Room 143.

The students have earned an undergraduate certificate in global business management through a partnership between UNC Charlotte’s Belk College of Business and Tecnologico de Monterrey, one of Mexico’s top-ranked universities. Officials from both universities will preside over the ceremony, including Belk College Dean Claude Lilly and Dr. Carlos Villanuev from Monterrey. Wayne Cooper, honorary Mexican consul for North Carolina, will be a guest of honor.

The year-long certificate program, which began in 2006, consists of five courses in a variety of business disciplines. Three of the classes are conducted by teleconference and two take place at UNC Charlotte. In fact, many of the students participating in Friday’s ceremony had not met in person until they arrived in Charlotte last month.
