Economists participate in Emerging Issues Forum

Two members of the Belk College faculty recently participated in the 2006 Emerging Issues Forum, “Financing the Future,” at NC State University.

John Connaughton, TIAA-CREF professor of economics, was a member ofthe “Options for theFuture”panel discussion, along with other academic and business leaders.

Ben Russo, professor of economics, contributed a briefing paper, “State Tax Reform: Evidence, Logic and Lessons from the Trenches.” In the paper, Russo presented evidence that tax reform is crucial for the state of North Carolina. The Emerging Issues Forum is hosted by the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State, which was founded in 2002 “to develop and advance innovative public policy that translates ideas into action.”
