Marketing professor named Observer sales-expert columnist

Tom Stevenson, professor of marketing in the Belk College, has been appointed to a team of experts who will write the new "In Closing" column in The Charlotte Observer.

The column, which runs in "Moneywise" section on Sundays, will offer advice on aspects of sales including persuasion, influence, organization, communication and skill-building. The five columnists will respond to reader questions and draw on their own experiences for their columns.

"Tom Stevenson has business-to-business sales experience and 30 years of sales and marketing education," his Observer bio reads. "He has trained more than 5,000 students at UNC Charlotte.... His graduates, working worldwide, create a massive network of 'on the ground' intelligence for the latest sales trends."
