Belk College professors quoted in regional, national media

Professors in the Belk College of Business are frequently called on by members of the media to provide expertise on a variety of business topics.

Tony Plath, associate professor of finance, is a highly-regarded expert on the banking industry. He has been in high demand this summer, in light of the volatility in the industry and the leadership transition at Charlotte-based Wachovia Corp. He has been interviewed by the Raleigh News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, the Winston-Salem Journal, and all four networks in Charlotte, among others.

Peter Schwarz, professor of economics, has become sought after by media covering the airline industry. He has been a frequent commenter in the Charlotte business news media and was recently featured on Minnesota Public Radio.

Craig Depken, associate professor of economics, was quoted in the June 30, 2008 issue of Newsweek magazine, for the article "Reinventing the 'Fuzzbuster.'" NewsWeek

Dana Lanham, lecturer in marketing, was quoted in the article "Coming This Fall: Free Textbooks," published July 16, 2008 on the Time magazine website. Time

Additionally, John Connaughton, professor of economics, Lloyd Blenman, professor of finance, and Plath have appeared on "Charlotte Talks,"a public affairs program on WFAE, the Charlotte NPR affiliate, to discuss the state of theeconomy, the decline of the U.S. dollar in the world economy, and the home-mortgage foreclosurecrisis.
