UNC Charlotte's center city campus, the new home for several Belk College graduate programs, officially opens for business with the start of UNC Charlotte’s fall semester, August 22.
What's now known as UNC Charlotte Center City is a $50.4 million, 11-story, academic building located in the heart of the Queen City at 9th and Brevard Streets. Its opening is a historic step forward for UNC Charlotte, signaling a new level of connectivity between North Carolina’s urban research university, the Uptown community and the greater Charlotte region. The building provides a striking new addition to the Charlotte skyline and will be an anchor for further development in the First Ward neighborhood.
The 143,000 square-foot building will house some of the university’s leading graduate-level programs including the Belk College of Business M.B.A., Master of Accountancy and Master of Science in Mathematical Finance, as well as the staff of the Belk College Graduate Programs and the Center for Real Estate. Amenities include an on-site café and bookstore, a 300 seat auditorium for lectures and performances and gallery space.
Additionally, the building provides space for several other academic programs, including the College of Arts + Architecture’s Master of Urban Design, Extended Academic Programs (Continuing Education), the Design + Society Research Center and some classes in the College of Health and Human Services.
