Belk College team wins ‘Insurance Jeopardy’

Insurance JeopardyA team of undergraduate students from the Belk College of Business won the 2011 “Insurance Jeopardy” competition held recently at Appalachian State University.

Team members from the Belk College’s undergraduate program in risk management and insurance were James Howe, Ben Huffman, Charles Lindsay and Rayshawn Watson. They defeated squads from App State and East Carolina University to take the title and returned the trophy to UNC Charlotte for the coming year. The competition, held in a Jeopardy-style format, features questions on a spectrum of topics related to risk management and insurance.

Alternate team members were Jenny Chen, Daniel Marks, Erin Woodlief and Tawanna Woodson.

The annual event is sponsored by the North Carolina Surplus Lines Association, its members, and the Richard S. Brantley Risk and Insurance Center at Appalachian State University. More than 200 people attended the competition, which was streamed via the Internet.
