Buttimer elected to American Real Estate & Urban Economics Association board
Richard Buttimer, associate dean for faculty and research in the Belk College of Business, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA).
AREUEA was founded in 1964 to advance the scope of knowledge in the fields of real estate development, planning and economics and to facilitate the exchange of information and opinions among academic, professional and governmental people who are concerned with urban economics and real estate issues. AREUEA publishes a quarterly journal, Real Estate Economics, which contains research and scholarly studies of current and emerging real estate issues.
Dr. Buttimer joined the Belk College faculty in 2002. Prior to coming to UNC Charlotte, he was an associate professor of real estate at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he also held the Gould-Mayfield Professorship of Real Estate. Dr. Buttimer earned a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and has taught a variety of finance and real estate courses. His primary areas of research are the development of mortgage default models and the application of options theory to real estate problems. He has published papers in many academic journals and is a member of the editorial board of The Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. He also is an Associate Editor for The Journal of Real Estate. Dr. Buttimer was appointed associate dean for faculty & research in 2011.
