Belk College sponsors wheelchair basketball shootout Jan. 27 & 28

The Belk College of Business and UNC Charlotte’s Division of University Relations and Community Affairs are sponsoring the Winter 2007 Charlotte Shootout, a wheelchair basketball competition, Jan. 27 and 28 in the Belk Gymnasium. Admission is free.

The Shootout features five wheelchair basketball teams from across the nation, including the Charlotte Rollin’ Bobcats. Belk College alumnus Tim Caldwell is a member of the Rollin’ Bobcats Division II squad.

The tournament schedule is as follows:

Saturday, Jan. 27

  • 9:00 AM – Utah vs Charlottesville (Court 1); VA. Beach vs New York (Court 2)
  • 11:00 AM -Charlotte vs New York (Court 1); Jr. Bobcat Clinic (Court 2)
    2:00 PM – Utah vs VA. Beach (Court 1); Charlottesville vs Charlotte (Court 2)
  • 4:30 PM – New York vs Charlottesville (Court 1); Charlotte vs VA. Beach (Court 2)

Sunday, Jan. 28

  • 9:00 AM -New York vs Utah (Court 1); Charlottesville vs VA Beach (Court 2)
  • 11:00 AM – Utah vs Charlotte (Court 1)

The Rolling Bobcats Wheelchair Basketball Program was founded with the purpose of building an organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities, of all ages, participate in wheelchair basketball on a national level. Our Juniors team is for 18 years old and younger players, Division III serves as a developmental team for building young new players, as well as players not able to commit the time or travel required of Division II, our premier adult program. Their website is www.rollingbobcats.com. The Rollin’ Bobcats are affilitated with the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA).
