Ex-con CFO to share ethics lessons with MBA students Sept. 10
Mark Morze created more than 10,000phony documents before he was caught.Morze, who served as CFO of ZZZZ Best, committed one of the most outrageous frauds of the 1980s.
Of $50 million in revenue, 86% ($43 million) was fabricated and none of the auditors, lawyers, bankers, or investors caught it. Morze served more than four years in jail for his role in ZZZZ Best Co., the carpet-cleaning enterprise that bilked banks and investors for some $100 million.
Currently, Morze is a lecturer on business ethics. He teaches courses in fraud for the Federal Reserve, bar associations, Institute of Internal Auditors, and CPA and law firms.
Morze will share his story and lessons learned with UNC Charlotte M.B.A. students on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at the Westin Hotel, 601 S. College Street.
There is no charge to attend the event, which is open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni. To assist with arrangements, please email Robin Boswell (robin.boswell@uncc.edu) if you plan to attend.
