Professor part of USA Today economic forum on Sept. 21

UNC Charlotte economist John Connaughton will discuss the North Carolina economy as a panelist on the USA Today/Wells Fargo Real Economy panel on Monday, September 21 from 9-11 a.m.

The live economic forum in Uptown Charlotte will include three segments focusing on optimism about the North Carolina economy, the jobs outlook and North Carolina’s workplace of the future. The moderator will be Sonja Gantt of WCNC.

Connaughton will join expected panelists including:

  • Kati Hynes, Vice President, Economic Development, Charlotte Chamber
  • Eric Schachner, CFO, CPI Security Systems
  • Michael Smith, President and CEO of Charlotte Center Partners
  • Erik Spanberg, Senior Staff Writer, Charlotte Business Journal

Connaughton is considered one of the top regional economists in North Carolina. He directs the Babson Capital/UNC Charlotte Economic Forecast, sponsored by Babson Capital Management. The quarterly economic forecast covers the state’s industrial sectors and measures the health of the state economy. Connaughton also covers national and international economic issues including employment, energy, trade and government spending.
