Introducing the M.S. In Management Program Ambassadors

I am honored to introduce Katelyn Thomas and myself as the Ambassadors for the M.S. in Management program. We feel privileged to have been given such an amazing opportunity and are looking forward to all we plan to accomplish in this upcoming year. We are excited to share our experiences throughout the year with the community and to be able to show others what the program entails.

My name is Christina Hewitt and I am the M.S. in Management Marketing Ambassador. I recently moved here from Ottawa, Canada, specifically to enroll in this exceptional program. I was born and raised in Ottawa, where I completed my four-year undergraduate studies in Psychology at Carleton University. During that time I also took part in an exchange program for a semester in Melbourne, Australia. I graduated in the fall of 2017 and took a year off to travel and decide what was next for me.

I visited my extended family in Charlotte my whole life so this was a place very near and dear to my heart, and somewhere I have always dreamed of living. When I was choosing where to do my Master’s, I began looking at schools in the Charlotte area. I was very unsure what type of Master’s I wanted to obtain, and how I could broaden my knowledge with a Master’s degree that would compliment my undergraduate degree in Psychology. Finally, I came across the M.S. in Management program at UNC Charlotte, which instantly caught my attention. This program allowed me as a non-business undergraduate student, to obtain a Master’s degree in Management. The M.S. in Management program promises to demystify the business language and complexities that will help lead me to succeed in the business world. Meanwhile, I will still be able to apply my background in psychology. I am confident about the skills and opportunities that this program is helping me to develop. This degree will certainly prepare me to work as a well-rounded professional in the field of Management Consulting, where I can combine my knowledge in psychology together with business skills.

My close friend and Ambassador partner, Katelyn Thomas, is our program’s Cohort Experience and Recruiting Ambassador. Katelyn is originally from Leland, North Carolina, and moved to Charlotte in 2014 to complete her undergraduate degree in Public Health with a minor in Communication Studies at UNC Charlotte. During her undergraduate education, she held the title of Vice President of Finance of her sorority and was the trauma intern at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center working with substance abuse and intervention policies and practices. Her career interests revolve around healthcare administration, particularly in the areas of quality assurance and strategic planning. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and family. Katelyn is enthusiastic about her future career in the healthcare industry, using her academic and applied knowledge of public health together with the business related skills she will gain from this program.
