The Belk College will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of virtual events throughout the 2020-21 academic year.

The college was established on Nov. 13, 1970, with just eight full-time faculty. Over 50 years, more than 33,000 students have graduated to become successful in Charlotte and throughout the world. The college has been a leader throughout the Charlotte region for decades with:

  • First graduate program for working business professionals.
  • First AACSB-accredited business school in the region.
  • First named college at UNC Charlotte.
  • First college or university to offer business courses in Uptown Charlotte.
  • First and only AACSB-accredited Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in the Carolinas.

Events for the 50th anniversary debut on Sept. 28 with the Dean’s Leadership Series, a new online series presented by Jennifer Troyer, who became the college’s seventh dean this summer. The first session will focus on “Leading on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace.”

The new series aims to give back to the Charlotte community by welcoming distinguished guest speakers, executive business practitioners and thought leaders who will share their insights and experiences regarding current challenges and future opportunities facing our business community.
