Childress Klein Center for Real Estate Welcomes New Director
In July, the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate (CKCRE) welcomed its new director, Dr. Yongqiang Chu.
Chu, who joined the Belk College of Business in 2018, will lead the center in its vision to educate, lead in research and connect with the community.
Upholding this vision, Chu says he will advocate for the quality of CKCRE and what it offers students, including rigorous courses, networking opportunities and hands-on experience.
He says CKCRE will continue to provide a quality education for its students, despite the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another goal for the center is to increase diversity in the field of real estate.
Chu is conducting research on racial disparities in mortgage lending. He will also be continuing the State of Charlotte Housing study, which began in 2018 under previous director Richard Buttimer, who recently became dean of the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida.
Chu had served as a real estate faculty member and program director for the Master of Science in Real Estate Program. He has conducted research in real estate, corporate finance, and banking and has been published in several leading real estate, finance and economic journals and continues to be referenced in other sources.
He says he hopes to help enhance the research reputation of CKCRE and its respective programs.
