Belk College Fills Academic Leadership Positions

Seven Belk College of Business faculty members are on the move, filling key leadership positions for the college.

Antonis C. StylianouAntonis C. Stylianou – Associate Dean for Faculty and Research

Antonis C. Stylianou, who most recently served as chair of the Department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management (BISOM), will serve as the associate dean for faculty and research. Stylianou, who received his Ph.D. from Kent State University, has decades of experience in the college as a professor of management and information systems. His industry experience includes an appointment in the information management department at Duke Energy. , Stylianou also has published numerous research articles in areas such as management science, decision sciences and decision support systems. The position was previously held by Richard Buttimer, who left the college in July to become dean of the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida.

Chandrasekar SubramaniamChandrasekar Subramaniam – Department Chair of BISOM

Chandrasekar Subramaniam will serve as the chair of BISOM. Subramaniam, who has been part of the Belk College in 2003 as an associate professor of management information systems, served for the past three years as the graduate program director for the Master of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA). He was instrumental in the launch of the interdisciplinary School of Data Science and helped to establish three graduate-level boot camp courses. He has many research projects that have been funded by large corporations such as Motorola, State Farm Insurance and Caterpillar. Subramaniam, who received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois-Champaign, is an expert in electronic commerce, IT and enterprise business processes, value and impact of IT, and inter-organizational information systems.

​Yongqiang ChuYongqiang Chu – Childress Klein Center for Real Estate Director

Yongqiang Chu will serve as the director of the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate. Chu, who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is also the Childress Klein Distinguished Professor of Real Estate and Urban Economics and a professor of finance. He previously served as the program director for the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE). His research interests include real estate, corporate finance and banking, and his research has appeared in many top finance, real estate and economics journals, including Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, and Management Science.

Paul GagglPaul Gaggl – M.S. in Economics Program Director

Paul Gaggl will serve as the program director for the Master of Science in Economics. Gaggl joined the Belk College in 2012 as an associate professor in economics and public policy. His research interests concentrate on the distributional effects of technology adoption, particularly concerning the heterogeneous effects on different types of workers and the distribution of income between labor and capital. Gaggl, who earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis, is an expert in macroeconomics and labor economics.

Yufeng HanYufeng Han – M.S. in Mathematical Finance Program Director

Yufeng Han will serve as the program director for the Master of Science in Mathematical Finance. Han, who earned his Ph.D. from Washington University at St. Louis, joined the Belk College in 2016 as an associate professor of finance. Han’s research interests are empirical asset pricing, investment, mutual funds and econometrics. He has published journals, including The Journal of Financial Economics, and Real Estate Economics.

Sungjune ParkSungjune Park – M.S. in Data Science and Business Analytics Program Director

Sungjune Park will serve as program director of the Master of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA). The program is part of the School of Data Science. Park, who earned his Ph.D. from State University of New York at Buffalo, is an expert in Information Security, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management and E-Business. His research has appeared in leading journals including Computers & Operations Research, Data & Knowledge Engineering, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Research, Information & Management, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Omega.

Daniel WrightDaniel Wright – M.S. in Real Estate Program Director

Daniel Wright, who has been involved with the real estate industry since 2004, will serve as the program director for the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE). Wright earned his master’s in real estate from Cornell University and served as executive editor of the Cornell Real Estate Review. He has served many roles, including project manager for retail, office, medical office and multifamily developments. Wright has industry experience in all aspects of development, including negotiations, financing, design, planning, construction, entitlements, contracts and investor relations.
