New leadership announced for graduate programs

The Belk College of Business has announced several key leadership appointments for its graduate programs.

Dr. Reginald Silver, who previously served as program director for the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) program, has been appointed associate dean for graduate and executive programs.

Silver, who joined the Belk College in 2014, has 18 years of experience in healthcare operations and finance. In this new role, Silver has responsibilities for the Belk College’s fast growing graduate and executive education programs.

Silver, who is also a clinical professor in the Department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management, replaces Dr. Jen Ames Stuart, who was recently appointed associate vice chancellor for University Communications.

In addition, appointments have been made to the college’s two flagship programs, DBA and MBA.

MBA Program Director

Dr. Janaki GootyDr. Janaki Gooty, an associate professor in the Department of Management, has been appointed Master of Business Administration program director. Gooty, a recognized scholar in leadership, inclusion and the power of emotions in the workplace, has been an active faculty member in the MBA program and has developed course content for the new Charlotte Online MBA, which will launch in August.

In addition to her work with the MBA program, Gooty has taught in the DBA program as well as served as both a dissertation committee chair and active dissertation committee member. Her graduate student advising and teaching skills will serve us well as she assists with launching our online MBA program in fall 2022. She also serves as director of the Dual MBA Program with EGADE Business School, Monterrey, Mexico.

Gooty replaces Dr. Gary Kohut, who retired on Dec. 31. He had led the nationally ranked program since 2009. ​​Enrollment in the Charlotte Professional MBA has grown 57% over the past five years and 14% since fall 2020.

DBA Program Director

Dr. Alan TurovlinDr. Alan Turovlin ‘21, a clinical professor in the Department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management has been named DBA program director, replacing Silver. Turovlin, an alumnus of the program, has taught courses in operations and has appeared as a panelist and guest speaker for a number of DBA student-led meetings.

As DBA program director, Turovlin will work alongside Dr. Franz Kellermanns, academic director of the program, to recruit new students and coordinate the administrative needs of the program.

Charlotte offers the first and only AACSB-accredited DBA program in the Carolinas.
