Day of Service projects connect Business Niners

Categories: Alumni, News

Dozens of Belk College alumni and students teamed up for four Belk College Day of Service projects on April 22 and 23. In total, 67 Business Niner volunteers contributed 142 hours of service to support the Jamil Niner Student Pantry, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and Classroom Central. Alumni and students connected on campus for two projects at the Jamil Niner Student Pantry. There, they stocked the pantry with 120 pounds of food donated by Belk College Day of Service participants. Volunteers also sorted several pallets of 40 pound boxes of sweet potatoes at Second Harvest Food Bank for families in the Charlotte region experiencing food insecurity. On Saturday morning, Business Niner alumni and students met at Vaulted Oak Brewing, owned by alumni Kiel Arrington ‘08 and Chuck Kistler ‘06, at a project to support Classroom Central. Participants assembled 96 homework kits, notes of encouragement, flashcards and bookmarks for students in six Charlotte-area school districts.
