Rubin appointed director of research
Belk College Dean Claude Lilly recently announced that Dr. Beth Rubin,professor of management,has beenappointeddirector of research for the College. Inthis role, Rubin will be responsible for the College’s efforts inobtaining externally funded research.
Rubin, who joined the Belk College faculty in 2002,recently heldatwo-year appointmentat the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C.
“Beth’s experience at NSF will providean invaluable resource for the College on the ‘how tos’ of successful research proposal writing and the integration of external funding into the academic research process,” said John Gandar, associate dean.
Rubin willwork with Belk College faculty on developing external grant applications and will pursuenew funding ventures for the College.
Rubin earned her Ph.D. fromIndiana University-Bloomington. She also holds an M.A. degree fromIndiana University-Bloomington and a B.A. from theState University of New York-College at New Paltz. Before coming to UNC Charlotte,Rubin taught at Tulane University, where she was a member of the Sociology Dept. and an adjunct member of the A.B. Freeman School of Business, andat Cornell University. Her research areas include labor market structures and practices;workplace and economic restructuring; time in organizations; and work-life balance.
