Get To Know the Fall 2021 C-Suite Speaker
UNC Charlotte’s Belk College of Business will welcome alumna Kimberly Moore-Wright ‘95 to campus at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, for the Fall 2021 C-Suite Speaker Series
Moore-Wright, who recently was named to the Belk College Board of Advisors, is part of the executive leadership team at Charlotte-based Truist Financial, the sixth largest commercial bank in the nation. During the event, Moore-Wright will sit down with Belk College Dean Jennifer Troyer for a fireside chat, focusing on her role at Truist and her career journey.
Here are five things to know about Moore-Wright.
1. Career in Banking
Moore-Wright’s career started at BB&T, Truist’s predecessor, soon after she earned her accounting degree from the Belk College in 1995. Early in her career, she held several key roles, including retail services officer, market leader, credit training instructor, retail credit training manager, community bank and lending group training manager, and director of retail and commercial marketing strategy.
2. National award for training
Over the years, she’s received several awards, including being named one of the “Top 40 Trainers Under 40” in 2011 by Training Magazine for her work with BB&T University.
3 . Leader in Marketing
For nearly four years, she served as director of marketing and digital sales for BB&T, assuming leadership of BB&T’s marketing and advertising team. She oversaw the launch of “All We See is You,” a brand campaign that included TV commercials and digital marketing.
4. ‘Trusted Leader’
Kelly S. King, who recently retired as CEO of Truist, called Moore-Wright “one of our most trusted leaders.” Since the merger of equals between BB&T and SunTrust in 2019, Moore-Wright has been promoted three times. In 2019, she was named chief human resources officer for Truist, leading the bank’s 50,000+ teammates through the ongoing merger and a global health crisis. In June 2020, she was named to the executive leadership team. Earlier this month, she became the chief teammate officer and head of enterprise diversity.
She is one of three Belk College alumni who sit on Truist’s executive leadership team, joining Scott Case ’00 MBA, chief information officier, and Dontá Wilson ’97, chief digital and client experience officer.
5. Diversity and Inclusion Leadership
Moore-Wright said sometimes over the years, she’s been the only African American and the only female in meetings. In interviews, she speaks about the importance of creating an inclusive environment that empowers teammates to grow and have meaningful careers. “We’re passionate about ensuring we aren’t just checking off boxes, but living the values we’ve instilled.” she wrote in Savoy magazine.
Registration is open now for the C-Suite Speaker Series, which will be held in the Popp Martin Student Union. Based on University guidelines, facial coverings will be required for all attendees.
