Dr. Magee teaches management and business courses at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Dr. Magee is the former Director of Employee Relations and Organizational Development for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company's Administrative Division in Charlotte, North Carolina. During the first nineteen years of his career Dave was instrumental in rebuilding trust and respect thus providing a harmonious and productive work environment between plant-hourly workers and first-line, middle-level and top-level executive leadership. This was accomplished at two multi-million-dollar organizations. The resulting impact of this trust-rebuild was a dramatic reduction of costly labor claims filed by employees against each organization. Along those reductions came confidence and elimination of active labor union organizing.
The next fifteen years were spent in general human resources management roles, such as reward systems, policy and enforcement, as well as employment and employee relations. In the past four years of his work in Human Resource Dr. Magee had worked had focused on strategic human resources planning, with his capstone project being the implementation of development a Knowledge Management and Organizational Development process. This involved the analysis and documentation of knowledge acquired by long-term employees, or those in highly specialized positions.
Dr. Magee holds a Ph.D. in Organization and Management from Capella University, a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel from Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from The University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and was a Certified Mediator in the State of North Carolina. Dr. Magee was awarded the Human Resources Professional of the Year by the Charlotte Area Chapter for Human Resources. He served on that chapter's Board of Directors and worked on numerous committees, such as chairing the chapter's 60th Anniversary celebration and served on the host committee for the North Carolina SHRM State conference.
Dr. Magee and his family live in North Carolina. Dave enjoys home improvement projects, he likes to fish, likes to play drums, and likes to collect Beatles memorabilia. He also considers himself an eternal optimist.
