Beginning Fall 2021, all students taking classes in the Belk College of Business are required to have their own personal laptop computer.
Picking a system
When purchasing a laptop, it is important to remember that it should last for the duration of your studies. Opting for a higher-performing machine helps keep it relevant longer. The Belk College of Business requires a laptop that meets or exceeds the minimum system specifications listed below. Purchases can be made at UNC Charlotte's NinerTech. Students will be informed of the needed software on the syllabus for each course. However, some applications used in selected courses are not available natively in a Mac format. If a student prefers an Apple laptop, the student will be responsible for installing Windows 10 via Boot Camp to run some of the applications required in business courses.

Having a working laptop is each student’s responsibility. For assistance, Institutional Technology Services staffs a walk-up service desk in Room 140C of Atkins Library. The IT Service Desk can also be reached online or by phone for assistance with any technical difficulties. Please visit help.uncc.edu for more information. In addition, Atkins Library has a laptop lending program. Laptops can be checked out on a first come, first serve basis at the Circulation Desk located on the first floor near the main entrance. The loan period for laptops is 24 hours. For paid technical help, NinerTech is located in the Popp Martin Student Union.
