Topic: Scholarly Impact: Finding the Holy Grail

The desire to have an impact on different stakeholders including researchers, students, and society at large is a long-term aspiration of most academics—a sort of search of the “Holy Grail.” What is scholarly impact? How should we measure it? How can we accelerate the impact of our research and teaching activities? How can we produce relevant research? The goal of this presentation is to address these questions by describing management theory and research that helps us understand the relevance and impact — and how to improve both. The presentation will be of interest to researchers and educators aiming to accelerate the impact of their work—as well as university leaders and administrators.
