In your opinion, what are the three best things about UNC Charlotte?
The beautiful and constantly expanding campus, the vast amount of organizations available for students to get involved in, and Chick-Fil-A of course.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is probably the 10th floor of the library. The views are gorgeous and it’s a great place to study or chill.
What is your favorite Charlotte restaurant?
Definitely the Crispy Crepe, I highly recommend it for any brunch lovers out there!
What is your favorite class that you have taken and why?
My favorite class was definitely Quantitative Analysis with Dr. Cooper! It was the first major level chemistry course that I had ever taken, so I was pretty nervous going into it. I didn’t realize until after the semester concluded how much I enjoyed the course. It took my understanding of chemistry to another level, and connected the dots between a lot of the fundamental ideas that I already knew. Dr. Cooper also challenged my way of thinking and approaching problems, which greatly helped me grow as a student. Interestingly enough, I found myself applying some of the quantitative and problem solving techniques to other classes as well, such as financial management and my accounting courses.
Tell us three random things about yourself.
Mulan is my favorite Disney movie, and I may or may not have all the songs memorized….
Sunflowers always put me in a better mood.
Polynesian sauce is hands-down my favorite sauce from Chick-fil-A.
What majors did you pursue and why?
I pursued a B.S.B.A in Finance and a B.A in Chemistry. I began my journey at UNC Charlotte as a Pre-Pharmacy student, as I have always had a strong interest in Chemistry. I chose to double major in business in order to aid my understanding of the financial sector of the pharmaceutical industry. I quickly realized that I have a much stronger interest in business than I initially anticipated. Although I am no longer a Pre-Pharmacy student, I still have great interest in both fields of study, so I thought, I might as well keep both majors.
Why did you choose the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte?
I chose the Belk College of Business due to the immense amount of opportunities available to its students. Being that Charlotte is one of the nation’s major banking capitals, it puts UNC Charlotte students at an advantage to seek opportunities right next door.
What activities are you involved in when not working/studying?
I have always had a passion for nonprofit work and helping others. I proudly serve as a board member of United Muslim Relief, which is a nonprofit organization focused on youth servicing their local and global communities. I also enjoy catching up on sleep and lunching with friends in my free time.
What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?
Meeting new people from diverse backgrounds has definitely been a great part of my undergraduate experience. Getting involved in student organizations, study groups, etc. has allowed me to get to know a lot of really awesome people, and it is always interesting to see what kinds of perspectives my peers bring to the table.
What was your best memory from your time at UNC Charlotte?
In addition to meeting many wonderful people and building lifelong relaitonships, my best memory from my time at UNC Charlotte was attending the TEDxUNCCharlotte event this past Spring.
How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?
Although there are a lot of students in the Belk College, there is a strong sense of community and belonging. You can look forward to helpful and supportive professors, many of whom have industry background, which allows them to provide their students with a unique industry perspective. In addition, you’ll have a countless business opportunities available to you. It’s a great place to be and I highly recommend it!
