The Belk College of Business, its dedication to improvement, and its close proximity to the city.

I’d have to say Peet's Cafe. When it comes to coffee, I’m not much of a Starbucks kind of guy, and Peet's never fails to get my order right!

What is your favorite Charlotte restaurant?
Ishi Japanese Steak House

What was your favorite class that you have taken and why?
My favorite class would probably have been Strategic Management with Professor Webb. Professor Webb was awesome; he took the time to learn each of our names and helped create an engaging classroom experience. The course material was fantastic and helped me put things into perspective.

What major(s) did you pursue and why?

During my time at UNC Charlotte, I pursued a Marketing major with a double minor in Spanish and Economics. I’ve always had an interest in advertising and branding; pursuing a marketing major not only helped me learn more about the field specifically, but also allowed me the chance to be able to express myself creatively.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte?

It’s been a while since I’ve given my decision to enroll at UNC Charlotte some thought. When I initially enrolled, the Belk College of Business was the best opportunity for any individual hoping to pursue a degree in business. The city of Charlotte is the second largest financial center second to New York City, which meant there would be many opportunities for personal growth and career advancement. Also, when I enrolled, UNC Charlotte was growing institution and I wanted to be a member of a university where my voice not only mattered, but could be heard.

What activities were you involved in when not working or studying?

When not working or studying, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the movies, drawing/painting, and attempting to go to the gym.

What was the best part of your academic experience?

I’d have to say that would be my time working for the Dean of Students Office here at UNC Charlotte has been the best part. I have been with the Dean of Students Office for about three years now. I initially started as an Orientation Counselor. Then I advanced in my role, becoming a Soar Assistant and later an Office Assistant. Each role taught me not only how to be a leader, but how to be patient, how to provide mentorship, and how to have fun. It was an experience that I would not change for the world. I wholeheartedly appreciate everything that each individual in that department has done for me. The laughter, sense of community, and push for an all-inclusive environment made possible by that office is the very reason I believe it to have been the best part of my academic experience here at UNC Charlotte

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

The Belk College of Business is one of a kind. It is a place where you can not only visualize your place in the business world, but it is also a place where the resources and tools necessary to make those strides are readily available to students. The faculty and the advisors are incredibly dedicated to ensuring that students acquire the knowledge pertinent to their majors to help them succeed not only in the classroom, but also post graduation when in pursuit of a professional career.

If you received a scholarship or financial aid, how did that help you? What scholarship did you receive?

Throughout my time at UNC Charlotte, I received financial aid which helped me immensely. The loans and grants I have received from the financial aid office have truly helped me succeed and to pay for my courses and required course materials.

What are your plans post graduation?

I plan to continue my time at my internship with Compass Group USA, where I serve as a Graphic Design and Marketing Communications Intern. I will also be making a decision as to whether or not I will be continuing my education in pursuit of a second degree in Computer Science or pursuing a master's degree.
