What degree did you pursue and why?

I chose the M.S in Management program because of the diverse courses that would expose me to the business functions necessary to succeed in the corporate world.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business over others?

The Belk College of Business has a long-standing reputation in the Charlotte community for building the next generation of business leaders and providing immersive opportunities for their students to connect with the business world. I believe that the college was a good fit for me as I looked to grow professionally in the Charlotte region.

What did you hope to accomplish this year in your role as an Ambassador?

I hoped to continue to connect students with the opportunities the M.S in Management program and the Belk College have to offer. Applying to Graduate School can seem like a daunting task and I wanted to serve as the bridge to help prospective students feel at ease as they started their next academic endeavor.

As the Belk College of Business celebrates its 50th anniversary, what has been your favorite memory as a student?

Getting to meet my cohort! The amazing part of being in the Belk College is that you are surrounded by peers, faculty, and staff that want to see you grow and succeed. They’re a built-in network of cheerleaders that have helped develop business leaders and have earned the Belk College its recognition.

What has been the best part of your academic experience?

Group projects! I enjoy the chance I get to meet new classmates and learn more about their interests as we worked through an assignment together. Many of the people I have worked with have become great friends over my academic journey.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone considering a master’s degree program?

The Belk College is like a catalyst. It will not do much on its own, but if used correctly, it can accelerate you to accomplishing your goals. The faculty and staff are committed to seeing you succeed as you enter your next step academically and are willing to share resources to help you get there.

Tell us about your job. What lessons have you learned in your courses that you were able to apply on the job?

In addition to my regular job, I worked as a Human Resources Intern for a local small business through the Small Business and Technology Development Center. In this role, I used the knowledge and skills I have gained through the program to develop new policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk. I am often tasked with using organizational behavior and HR management practices in considering the development and implementation of our work.

Anything else you want to share that may help readers learn about Belk College graduate programs?

If you have the smallest interest in one of our graduate programs, reach out to an Ambassador! Hearing about the experience and the program’s impact from a student perspective is an invaluable tool when determining which program is the right match for you.
