Dream Job: Restaurant Owner. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a child to own and operate my own restaurant.

What major are you pursuing and why?

I am currently a Senior majoring in Organizational Management in the Belk College of Business. I chose to pursue this major because it aligned with my career goals of ultimately owning my own restaurant. Within my major, I have the ability to gain the necessary knowledge of managing an organization and develop the necessary relationship with individuals with whom I work with. 

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte? 

I chose the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte because of how the college builds their business students up as professionals. In my four years in the business school, I have developed immensely as a professional, and have gain so much knowledge and skills that I can take with me beyond graduation. 

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying? 

 When I am not working or studying, I love to try to new restaurants with my family and friends, as well as try out a new book or movie. 

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far? 

The best part of my academic experience so far has been my time as a Peer Advisor Intern for the Belk College of Business. In that internship, I gained so much experience and developed long-lasting relationships with the amazing staff there. 

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?   

I would describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying as a college that will push you to be your best self! The Belk College of Business will challenge you to do your best and hardest work, and in the end, it will pay off. 

Have you utilized any professional development from the Niblock Student Center?  

I love the Lunch and Learns the Niblock Student Center holds for students! Each Lunch and Learn has a different topic relevant for current students, and I find time when I can to attend them because it is very insightful information. 

What does professional development mean to you? 

Professional Development to me is the ongoing development to be a better communicator, writer, and public speaker. There is always a skill that can be further exercised, and I feel it is important to do so. 

If you have received a scholarship or financial aid, how has that helped you? 

What scholarship did you receive? Along with financial aid, I received the Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation scholarship almost all four of my academic years! It has helped me tremendously with tuition, as well as books and other materials. 

What high school did you attend? 

I attended Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, NC. 

What are your plans after graduation (if you’re a senior)? 

After graduation, I plan to obtain my Masters Degree in Organizational Psychology. 

In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte? 

The light rail

What is your favorite class that you have taken and why? 

My favorite class I have taken so far has been Intro to Africana Studies! The class was extremely interesting, and we watched a lot of films that exposed me to a lot of information that I was not knowledgeable about.

I was named after my grandfather (Lindsey Ayio) 

I am a military brat 

I aspire to write my own book one day
