What is your long-term goal and how is the Belk College helping you achieve this?

My long-term goal is to become a commercial real estate developer and open a real estate investment trust. The Belk College is helping me achieve this by growing my networking skills and teaching me other skills that I need to live out my goal.

Describe what kind of student you are.

I am a transfer student from Pitt Community College. I have loved my experience transferring and moving across the state.

Why are you interested in economics?

My interest in obtaining an economics degree comes from wanting to be an adaptable person, with a vast array of skills in the workforce, while also looking to further my mindset in an entrepreneurial way.

Tell us about your involvement in the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA).

I serve on the executive board as NABA's vice-president. Some of my responsibilities in NABA have been reaching out to other organizations and corporate partners. A big part of my responsibility is aiding in the expansion of the organization. NABA has helped me grow many soft skills needed for my career. Some of the things that can't always be taught but experienced.

What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

Not being a product of my environment is a challenge I faced coming from a small rural area in eastern North Carolina. It was easy to become a product of my environment, but I always wanted more from life and having the drive to attain a better life.
