MBA alumna Nicole Lamach describes the Belk College of Business as “The perfect way to balance a career and family life while furthering your education.” Lamach chose to pursue an MBA in order to expand her career and industry options with the hope of one day making a difference in sustainability and community upward mobility.
What degree did you pursue and why?

I pursued a Master of Business Administration. Having a culinary degree along with a bachelor's degree in hospitality, I found myself in a food and beverage “corner” when it came to job opportunities. After getting the most out of my last job as a manager of a large high-end restaurant chain, I felt it was time for a change. Pursuing an MBA has opened up both my career and industry options.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business over others?

I chose the Belk College of Business MBA program because of its reputation, location, and flexibility.

What activities are you involved in outside of work?

My husband and I are mentors for the Carolina Youth Coalition, providing mentorship to high performing high school students on their journey to college. I love to cook and bake, it can be a good stress reliever. My favorite thing to do is spending time with my husband and daughters, watching children develop and learn has been one of the most amazing things to witness. I also enjoy golf and travel.

What was the best part of your academic experience in the Belk College?

The study abroad trip to Prague and Budapest. I travel a lot, but being able to experience different cultures in a learning/business setting was completely different and beneficial to my view of the world of business.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone considering a master’s program?

The graduate programs in the Belk College offer the perfect way to balance a career and family life while furthering your education.
