What does it mean to receive the 2019 Belk College Honorary Alumnus Award?
The award is one of the greatest honors of my lifetime. I am forever grateful to the Belk College for this most special recognition and for the opportunity of being part of a wonderful community of friends and colleagues.
Describe your areas of academic and professional expertise.
My academic expertise is finance and risk management. My professional expertise is insurance company management, creating and inspiring teamwork and serving clients by providing protection and security through risk management and insurance solutions.
What do you enjoy most about teaching at the undergraduate level?
I most enjoy mentoring students and helping students discover their career passion.
What are some opportunities you have taken to utilize your expertise in the classroom?
I like to provide students with real life examples by drawing on my personal experiences in the insurance industry as well as my experiences in study abroad programs and attendance at conferences and seminars.
What advice do you have for students interested in finding an internship?
Take advantage of networking opportunities and establish a relationship with several trusted mentors.

The alumni network provides a great opportunity to learn from peers, to discover innovative ideas and solutions, to learn about emerging issues and to develop lifetime friendships.
