What major(s) are you pursuing and why?

I am pursuing a degree in International Business because I believe in the value of learning business practices from different cultures and perspectives. I wanted to learn the qualities and process of taking a company global. Fortunately, we have more resources than ever to connect internationally. I want to be able to make any small business find its way all over the world.

Why did you choose the Belk College of Business/UNC Charlotte?

I chose the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte because every day is a new experience on campus. I enjoy seeing people from all over the world come together and collaborate in class, organizations, and on campus. UNC Charlotte values diversity and I always feel like my opinion matters. We have a very inclusive environment that constantly progresses overtime. I am proud to be a Niner.

What activities are you involved in when not working or studying?

I am a part of Alpha Kappa Psi, which is a professional co-ed business fraternity. This organization helps in developing future business leaders through providing professional development, leadership training, and networking opportunities. It was a great way to bond with others who shared similar interests and aspirations.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

The best part of my academic experience has been getting to know faculty and staff on a personal level. Each staff member I was able to speak with has shared incredible stories about their own experiences in the work environment. I view every member of the Belk College of Business as someone who has gone through experiences that I will encounter in the future and can provide knowledge and advice on how to be successful.

How would you describe the Belk College of Business to someone who is thinking about applying?

The Belk College of Business focuses on engaging students by providing academic resources, professional development, and a diverse learning environment.

Have you utilized any professional development from the Niblock Student Center?

As a Belk College of Business Peer Advisor, I was able to get first-hand experience as to what the Niblock Student Center had to offer. I have personally utilized the Major Exploration Workshops, Academic and Career Coaching, Lunch and Learns, and the CEO Speaker Series.

What does professional development mean to you?

Professional development is the ability of acting in a professional manner and having the knowledge of how to interact in a setting that requires you to do so.

If you have received a scholarship or financial aid, how has that helped you? What scholarship did you receive?

Financial aid and my scholarship have helped my academic growth tremendously. I was fortunate enough to receive the Jerricho Cotchery Scholarship. These funds gave me the opportunity to focus on what matters most and that is my education. Without the financial support, I probably would have had to work more hours and be less active on campus. I have received many of my opportunities through my extracurricular activities and I am very grateful to have had the privilege to be so involved.

What high school did you attend?

Northern Nash High School

What are your plans after graduation (if you’re a senior)?

I plan to stay in Charlotte and pursue a career for an international firm. I am hoping to find a remote position that will allow me to travel. I also plan on earning my MBA while working.

In your opinion, what are the 3 best things about UNC Charlotte?

My favorite things about UNC Charlotte are environment, opportunity, and location. After visiting many campuses in North Carolina, UNC Charlotte is the most diverse and has the most welcoming environment I have seen. The opportunities for growth are limitless because we are one the fastest growing colleges in the state. Lastly, the location of the university is perfect for people who are looking to work with large corporations. The location is close to uptown and many of the companies aim to recruit UNC Charlotte students for full-time jobs and internships.

What is your favorite class that you have taken and why?

Global Marketing and Consumer Behavior is my favorite course that I have taken. This class covered the many differences in laws, regulations, culture, and tools that are used to market in other countries. I enjoyed learning about all of the adjustments that companies have made to adapt to their consumers wants and needs.

Tell us 3 random things about yourself.

I am Egyptian and very proud of my culture.

I enjoy traveling and blogging about my experiences.

I am very family oriented and enjoy hanging out with them as much as I can.
